Ingredients:

For the Fish:

  • 1 pound white fish fillets (such as cod, tilapia, or haddock)

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon paprika

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Vegetable oil for frying

For the Slaw:

  • 2 cups shredded cabbage or coleslaw mix

  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro

  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise

  • 1 tablespoon lime juice

  • Salt and pepper to taste

For Assembly:

  • 8 small flour tortillas

  • Sliced radishes (optional)

  • Sliced avocado (optional)

  • Lime wedges

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Slaw: In a bowl, combine the shredded cabbage, chopped cilantro, mayonnaise, lime juice, salt, and pepper. Mix well to coat the slaw evenly. Set aside in the refrigerator.

  2. Prepare the Fish: a. In a shallow dish, mix the flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. b. Rinse and pat dry the fish fillets. Cut them into manageable-sized pieces. c. Dredge each piece of fish in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.

  3. Cook the Fish: a. Heat about 1/2 inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. b. Carefully add the coated fish pieces to the hot oil and fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy. Make sure the fish is cooked through and flakes easily. c. Transfer the cooked fish to a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.

  4. Warm the Tortillas: Heat the flour tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave according to the package instructions. This makes them more pliable and easier to fold.

  5. Assemble the Tacos: a. Place a spoonful of the slaw on each tortilla. b. Top with a piece of crispy fried fish. c. Add optional toppings like sliced radishes and avocado.

  6. Serve: Garnish the fish tacos with additional chopped cilantro and serve with lime wedges on the side for squeezing. You can also serve with your favorite salsa or hot sauce if desired.

Enjoy your homemade fish tacos with all the wonderful flavors and textures! Feel free to customize the toppings and slaw to your taste.
